Fly in love.

They weren’t lovers, just two lost souls with a similar vibe. They were out in the middle of the sea. Willingly lost in eternity. One night on the boat they had the same dream, like watching a movie together in sleep. With the first rays of the rising sun they rose to a new truth of life. Something felt different, something felt alive. She was standing at the edge of the boat staring at the sea with confused eyes. Subconsciously leaning to jump outside. He watched her, but didn’t stop her. He knew she couldn’t swim, but something felt right, or was he plain curious, he didn’t realize.
She jumped.
She went straight into the water and deep inside. For a long time, there was no sign. “Did she drown? Was she caught by a shark? Where did she go?” he fretted the time, bending over the edge looking for her.  Just as he decided to take a plunge himself, zoomed out something at a lightning speed and went high into the sky. “What was it? Was it a dolphin, a seabird or a flying fish?” he couldn’t understand! He winced at the sky looking for the creature and was truly mesmerized.
Up she was, flapping her little wings and smiling back at him. “How did you do that?” He exclaimed. “You can too”, she explained. So he plunged too, and couldn’t believe himself. he was flying and diving and flying again. Like children on a swing, butterflies in a garden and dolphins beneath. They played and played till they grew themselves tiered. Laughing and crying with wonderment they settled on a cloud. He looked at her and she looked back at his smiling, astonished face.
A moment later her own smile faded away. She didn’t want to fly any more, nor did she want him to. As she knew, painful memories are only what this will lead to, when the voyage ends. The next moment she fell down, like gravity had just woken up with a frown. Straight into the sea she fell, throwing her limbs to keep herself buoyant. He zipped down and pulled her out this time settling on the boat they sat. Facing each other he asked “are you okay? How did you fall?” “I don’t know!” She said “it was as if I couldn’t fly or breathe anymore, like my powers had gone.”
He smiled as he heard the word power spill out of her quivering lips; “you don’t think we have become x-men overnight do you?” He joked. She did smile at the joke being still disappointed at the fall. “Let’s try again” he said pulling her up. Taking his hand she looked at him. Smiled, and then leaped.
Once again the two birds soared up high and dived down deep. It was a spectacle no humanity could ever believe. For days they played and nights they sat on clouds. Travelled depths and heights their boat could have never allowed. They touched the stars beyond the mist; they saw the lights in the fish. She saw the smile in his eyes and he saw the sparkle in hers, every time.
But she kept falling one too many times, losing her powers, as she would describe.  Frustration it caused and jealousy too, “Why only me and why not you?”  “I want you to be able to fly with me too!” he said, without your occasional exists of vain. I want to know too, why only you and why not me? When the dream we had was only the same.”
She knew what pulled her down. She knew it in her gut, but didn’t want to believe it. She had observed the pattern of falling down. So she shied away and turned around. “What is it, is there something that you know?” he probed sensing the wrong.
“I fall when I look into your eyes”, she said with a guilt she couldn’t hide. “That’s ridiculous!” he exclaimed “well then why don’t I fall when I look into yours?” he demanded.  Almost shouting she said “I fall when I look into your eyes, I fall when I want the journey to end, I fall when all I can feel is pain…I fall, when I deny that I have fallen….indeed, in love with you” exhausted she turned to face the oblivion. Stunned by her outbreak, he didn’t say a word but stared at her teary eyes and sorrowed face, and yet he saw a glimpse of strength. “Why do you deny your love?” He asked as softly as he could, worried not to anguish her. “Because I know it will never be returned”, she said as detached as she could, worried not to impel him.  The silence between them spoke louder now, louder than the crashing waves and the whooshing wind, louder than their pounding hearts within. “I have no promises to make”, he said finally breaking the silence. “I ask for none as I have none of my own”, she said still facing the oblivion. “I do care”, he said with a strange guilt in his voice. This time she turned to look him in the eye, “so do I”, she said with honesty in her voice.
He stood up and held out his hand for
her. She took it and together they walked the edge of the boat. Never to return back. They soared highest into the clouds and dived deepest into the sea. And she never fell again except for into his arms.
Here we go, come with me
There's a world out there that we should see
Take my hand, close your eyes
With you right here, I'm a rocketeer
Let's fly……….
Up, up here we go, go
Up, up here we go, go
Let's fly……………..
Up, up here we go, go

Where we stop nobody knows
